Slow Going on the Writing Front

Posted on September 3, 2016

As the title states, it’s been slow going for my writing. I am easily distracted and do other things instead of writing. I don’t write as often as I used to. The only time of year I write on a regular basis is during the Nano months. I have come to think that maybe I delay writing because I fear something? If so, what is it? I have come up with a few theories such as fear of success or change or even harsh criticism. Maybe it’s a combination of the three? Maybe it could also be that I, as of late, do not feel as if I am good enough. Maybe this is why I hardly finish projects. I also suffer from dysthymia (a milder form of depression)  which often affects my creativity and mood. It makes feel like I don’t want to do much of anything much of the time.  I am currently trying to more thoroughly work on my worldbuilding  and plotting for Song of Chaos. I think this is version two or three. I will get it right one of these days. The plot and the world are ever-changing  things.

On a side note, I haven’t been on this site since I signed up, so that’s why it took me so long to approve my friend requests. Sorry about that.

  1. Good luck working past your dysthymia. I struggle with writing ups and downs due to my bipolar disorder, so I understand what it’s like when something you can’t control takes away one of the few pleasures you have. I hope your worldbuilding and prep work for your project are going well!

  2. Thank you, Ashe. My prep work did go well, although I did not have time to finish it all. I did have time to finish what I need for this month. I’ve been struggling with it again today. I’m amazed that I did manage to get what words I did today.
